2008 Still's Disease Conference
7th Annual Still's Conference Lifts the Spirits of Attendees
Let me say the conferences can be a life altering experience for those that are fortunate enough to attend. In spite of low attendance, this year was no different because, as we know from experience, even interacting with one other person provides the power to boost one's spirits.
This year's seventh annual conference was small in numbers but mighty in spirit. Among the first time attendees, a mother and her young daughter, who has Still's, were tentative at first. By the end of the conference, they professed how grateful they were for the wealth of knowledge and understanding, and the hospitality they received.
We gathered for our meet and greet Sunday evening, and were pleased to meet several in attendance from San Diego, and Robert's new beau Patty. Monday morning everyone met for pastries, and re-united with long time members of past years.
Of course, meeting others is just part of the whole weekend experience we share. President Carole Triller opened the conference, followed by keynote speaker Dr. Stefanie Yearian from Hemet, California. Dr. Yearian presented a message about coping and living with a chronic illness. In the afternoon session, we had a lot of fun with our fundraising gift give away. The gifts were given freely, as usual, and everyone took something home. In addition, the generosity of attendees ensured the foundation is able to continue its work. In the evening, those that could met for a prime rib dinner. After dinner, a few of us had an amazing time on Freemont Street in Las Vegas, where it is like daytime twenty-four hours a day, entertained by a laser show and a saxophone player. Other guests often go to see the tiger and animal exhibits, and shows.
Till soon,
