2006 Still's Disease Conference
Notes on the 5th Annual Still's Disease Conference
LAS VEGAS, Nevada, Sept. 2006 -- Five years ago the President of the International Still's Disease Foundation and others dreamed we could meet and share in person the friendship of the Foundation and it's supportive group of members.
We chose Las Vegas, Nevada because airline travel and hotel packages are usually more affordable then other areas of the country!
We started small, meeting in an attendee's room and flowed into the hallway. We shared our joy in finding the group and our his/her stories of Still's Disease. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
This year was no different except for a larger attendance, many new people, and we now host it in a Conference room with a speaker..
This year's Conference was attended by approximately 50 people. Our speaker was Dr. Gary Jorgensen speaking on Coping Skills For Living With Chronic Disease and Depression. We had new and long time members attending as well as the public this year and it shows us that many are finding the information on Stills disease quicker and easier than ever... we see that diagnoses are made in less time than it used to take!
Our most recent printing of brochures were given freely and we had our annual Gift drawing to raise donations for the Foundation. This year we also had T-shirts available and they sold very well. Our Foundation is solely and completely funded and supported by donations. We need all the help we can get!
We meet, play, dine and revel in the warmth of friends and family. This Conference is truly a life changing experience, where we meet and share with others that understand our illness and the lives we lead with it.
Next years Conference is already in the works by our team of planners and helpers and we shall have the information posted here as soon as it becomes available.
